Garena Online needed a large-volume order of custom acrylic keychains and branded sling bags for its Free Fire campaign in Malaysia. The merchandise was prepared for sale through vending machines across multiple Malaysian states, creating an unusual packaging and distribution requirement.
The Challenge 🎯
The acrylic keychains were initially planned as a straightforward merchandise item. The requirement changed when the loose keychain format was found to be unsuitable for the vending machine setup. A custom box was therefore needed to give every unit a consistent shape for display and dispensing while still matching the Free Fire campaign identity.
Developing the box was only one part of the challenge. Each acrylic keychain required an art paper insert, individual packing in a transparent bag, placement inside the custom art card box and final repacking for distribution. Repeating these steps across a large-volume order required careful organisation and a substantial amount of manual packing work.
The complete project, including the keychains, sling bags, custom boxes, packing and dispatch arrangements for multiple Malaysian states, had to be completed within a production window of approximately three weeks.
What We Did 📦
With no time for several sampling rounds, we prepared one pre-production mock-up showing the acrylic keychain and proposed packaging. Photos and a video were sent to Garena’s team in Singapore so they could review the appearance, box structure and packing arrangement before production.
Once the mock-up was approved, production proceeded directly. The finished keychain used an acrylic body with printed art paper, while the custom art card box carried Free Fire campaign graphics. The keychain was inserted into its clear protective bag before being placed into the box and prepared for final packing.
Branded sling bags were also produced as part of the merchandise range based on the approved visual and colour direction. At the same time, the production and packing workflow had to be coordinated with the dispatch schedule so the completed merchandise could be sent to the required destinations across Malaysia.
The Result ✅
The large-volume order of custom acrylic keychains, branded sling bags and custom packaging was completed within the tight schedule. The merchandise was packed in the required format and prepared for the Free Fire vending machine rollout across Malaysia.
The client was satisfied with the completed production, bringing a demanding three-week project involving product production, packaging changes, manual assembly and multi-location distribution to a successful conclusion.
This project shows that large-volume campaign merchandise is not only about making the product. Packaging structure, assembly time and distribution planning can become equally important when every unit must work within a specific sales channel such as a vending machine.
